While security camera systems were primarily associated with theft prevention ten to fifteen years ago, today, CCTV systems appear in almost every area of our lives.
When looking at the population-to-usage ratio, Istanbul ranks first in security systems, and we see that security system firms are also most concentrated in Istanbul. Naturally, this prevalence brings with it a high volume of maintenance and repair logs.
So, what are the most common malfunctions in security camera systems, and what precautions can be taken against them?
We can examine malfunctions in security camera systems under ten general headings:
- You are not receiving any image from the camera at all.
This might sound comical, but as anyone in the industry can attest, you should first check if there is power; sometimes simply plugging the device in is enough.
- You are using 12V cameras and you see horizontal lines or interference (noise) on your images.
The issue of line formation is often solved by using a separate adapter for each camera. However, if the problem is interference, it might be grounding-related. Eliminating noise coming from the ground can be a major challenge. In such cases, if the problem is indeed grounding-sourced, you can find a very fast and practical solution by using a GNDSeries interference suppressor.
- You have IP cameras but cannot access them.
In this situation, if you have multiple cameras, you must ensure they have different IP addresses. Duplicate IP addresses will prevent you from accessing your cameras.
- The electronic boards of your cameras are constantly burning out.
This happens for two main reasons: First, an electrical fluctuation or a disaster like lightning originating from the power adapter (the grid). Second, a lightning strike traveling through the telecommunications line. For the first case, you can protect yourself against all electrical risks from the grid by using Trimbox new generation surge arresters and surge suppressors. For the second case, you can block threats coming through the data line with
