ELECTRIC VEHICLES AND CHARGING STATIONS

There is something I always say: “Every technology creates its own needs.” In my opinion, this is precisely the issue that developing countries like ours should focus on. We must position ourselves at the intersection where developing technologies create new requirements, and by producing for those needs, we should enter ready-made markets.

I believe that if we recognize our strengths and direct our efforts accordingly, we will both achieve success and avoid chasing unnecessary dreams. In the conferences I attend at our universities, I give R&D engineer candidates a tip that is essentially my trade secret: “Focus on the chronic problems of existing technologies and open up to the world with ease.”

For almost the entirety of the last ten to fifteen years, electric vehicle technology and related innovations have occupied the largest space in terms of technological advancement in the automotive sector. I suspect they will continue to do so for another ten to fifteen years.

Since this technology is already being produced and sold globally, it would be wise to focus on its chronic issues. What might these be? To give a real-world example: can we focus on the vulnerability of vehicle charging stations to electrical errors and the potential for these to damage the automobile itself?

We already have. An R&D product that has won me many awards, including the “Inventor of Bursa” award, handles exactly this. Surge suppressors, which eliminate the risk of electrical and electronic devices burning out due to factors like lightning and transformer explosions—as well as the resulting fire risks—can be used safely in vehicle charging stations.

In 2017, China had 171,000 intermediate charging stations. Last August, the number of charging stations in the UK reached 9,000, surpassing the 8,400 existing gas stations. When we consider that there are approximately 14,000 gas stations affiliated with PÜİS in Türkiye, the approximate number of electric vehicle charging stations we will likely need in the future becomes clear.

In light of these figures, it is as clear as day how a relatively new technology presents us with a new set of needs. Developing our sales strategy in this direction—by explaining to station operators the measures that prevent potential electrical failures and fires while ensuring more efficient operation—will provide a significant contribution to them, to us, and to our national economy.

Simple precautions sometimes save lives. The best investment we can make for our family, our business, and our environment is protective measures. With Trimbox and GNDSeries, you can be protected from electricity-related damages and resulting electrical fires.
